Penny’s Park was built in 1977 as a tribute to Penny Lynn Leach,
a 13-year-old parishioner who passed away. The park was built by
her friends and family to honor her memory and her love of
playgrounds and parks. The playground has served the school,
parish and local community for a number of years, but was in
serious need of renovation. The cost of the renovation was over
$55,000, which included demolition of existing equipment, site
preparation, purchase of additional equipment, refurbishment of
some existing equipment, new surface material that is ADA
accessible and some additional park elements.
We began our fundraising campaign in March of 2004 at our annual
auction. Through generous donations from our school and parish
families, matching funds from local businesses, money raised
through the Penny Drive and a grant from the Stocker Foundation
as well as other donations we have completed the renovation.
"Thank you to everyone who provided financial support, as well
as those that gave of their time and energy to complete the
playground project."
